Wrap It Fast Insulation Nail Gun — Built for Steel Frame & Sarking

If you've ever tried fixing reflective foil to a steel purlin with a standard fastener, you already know the problem. The wrap tears, the fixing backs out, and you're back up the ladder redoing a section you already finished. Wrap It Fast was built around that exact headache

It's a gas-powered fastening system designed specifically for sheds, patios and steel-framed builds where sarking or reflective foil insulation needs to go up quickly and stay put. No screws, no pre-drilling, no second trip up the ladder.

How the Wrap It Fast System Works

Most trades still fix sarking the way they'd fix anything else to steel — with a screw gun and a washer, one at a time. It works, but it's slow, and on a big roof or shed wall the time adds up fast.

Wrap It Fast swaps that out for a gas-powered nailer purpose-built for steel frame. You load it, you fire it, the washer and fastener go in as one action. There's no pilot hole to line up and no washer to hold in place with your other hand while you drive the screw.

Gas-Powered Fastening vs Screw Guns

A screw gun asks you to do three things at once — hold the wrap flat, hold the washer in place, and drive the fastener straight. Wrap It Fast does all three in a single trigger pull, which is where most of the time saving comes from on a full sheet or a long purlin run.

Compatible Steel Frame Types

Built to work across the steel members you'd actually find on a shed or patio job — purlins, girts and light steel studs. If you're working with heavier structural steel, check the specs table below before ordering, since fastener penetration will vary by gauge.

Compatible Steel Frame Types

Sarking is the term most trades use for reflective foil wrap, and it's also where most standard fasteners let you down. Foil doesn't behave like sheet metal or plasterboard — it's thin, it moves in the wind before it's fixed, and a standard nail or screw head will punch straight through it if you're not careful.

Why Standard Fasteners Fail on Reflective Wrap

A normal fastener head is too small to spread load across foil. It either tears through on impact or works loose once the wrap starts flexing in the wind — which on an exposed roof happens more often than people expect.

The Washer System, Explained

Wrap It Fast pairs every fastener with a purpose-sized washer in the same action, so the load spreads across the foil instead of concentrating on one point. That's the difference between a fixing that holds for the life of the shed and one you're back out to replace in twelve months.

Insulation Washers & Washer System

The washer is doing more work here than people give it credit for. Get the washer wrong — too small, wrong material, wrong fit for the gun — and the fastening fails even if the gun itself is doing its job.

Washer Specs

Washers are sized to match standard sarking and reflective foil gauges, in a steel variant built to handle exposure without corroding out early. Full dimensions are in the specs table below.

Steel-Specific Washer Variant

For steel frame jobs specifically, there's a heavier washer variant designed to bite into steel purlins without deforming — worth checking if you're working purlins rather than lighter stud framing.

Consumables & Gas Cartridges

Once you've got the gun, the ongoing cost is consumables — nails, washers and gas cartridges. Getting the wrong SKU is the single most common hold-up trades run into, so this section is here to save you a phone call.

Ordering as a Bundle

Nails, washers and gas cartridges are sold as matched sets so you're not guessing whether one brand's washer fits another's fastener. If you're stocking up for a run of jobs, ordering the bundle is the simpler path.

Compatibility Notes

Always check your gun model against the consumable pack before ordering — older and newer versions of the system use slightly different washer profiles, and mismatched consumables are the most common cause of jams.

Who Uses Wrap It Fast

This system was built with a specific job in mind, and it shows in how it's used on-site.

Steel Purlin Installers

Shed builders, patio installers and carport trades running steel purlin frames are the core user base — anyone fixing sarking across a full roof or wall run, where the time saved per fastener adds up across hundreds of fixings a day.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between an insulation nail gun and a standard framing nailer?

A framing nailer is built for structural fixings into timber or steel framing generally. An insulation nail gun like Wrap It Fast fires a fastener and washer together in one action, specifically to spread load across foil or wrap without tearing it — something a standard framing nailer isn't set up to do.

Can I use this on sarking without tearing it?

That's the specific problem the washer system is built to solve. The washer spreads the load across the foil at the point of impact, rather than the fastener head punching straight through on its own.

What consumables do I need to order alongside the gun?

Nails, washers and gas cartridges — sold as matched sets so you're not stuck matching a washer profile to a fastener from a different pack. Check your gun model before ordering to make sure you're getting the right variant.
